Significant increase in wind and solar helped to generate 47% of UK electricity

Almost 50% of Britain’s electricity generation in the first quarter of 2020 was from renewables. Lower costs associated with the implementation of Solar PV, and a surge in wind generation helped set a new record for clean energy.

Official government data revealed that renewable energy made up 47% of the Uk’s electricity generation in the first three months of the year. In Q1 2019 it was just 39%

The substantial increase in the UK’s total renewable energy output is really encouraging and indicates an upwards trend in the right direction. It is expected that renewables will be part of the recovery from COVID-19 as investors regard green investments as a safe and reliable option.
