Our Story

Anya Ghalayini founded The Energy Consultant in 2018 after recognising the need for increased climate action and support for businesses in achieving their carbon reduction goals and becoming more sustainable.

Anya has a BA (Hons) in Philosophy from Lancaster University, her special interests are ethics, environmental philosophy and cultural diversity – understanding how societies and civilisations function and thrive. Anya also has an MSc in Management, including project and operations management and has put these skills to good use over the years whilst managing various projects for clients to ensure success from concept to completion, managing relationships, logistics and supply chain.

Anya is a member of Women in Sustainability, working with like-minded women in the field of sustainability to address the key issues relating to climate change and the transition towards carbon neutral. Anya is also a member of the Low Carbon, Eco Innovation Forum at Lancaster University and regularly attends events and seminars relating to innovation and carbon reduction.

Anya’s experience of the Energy Markets dates back to 2004 when she worked on acquisitions with a leading power company. In 2018 Anya trained as a Solar Surveyor with PBE, and worked with Moixa on battery storage projects prior to qualifying as a Commercial Energy Assessor (NDEA level 4). Anya has also worked on a number of large scale renewable energy projects, helping landowners diversify and become more sustainable. Anya’s diverse experience and qualifications enable her to provide a unique range of services to clients, including Energy and Environmental audits, Energy Performance Certificates, Technical Surveys and Design for Solar PV and Battery Storage ahead of installation, and Project Management.

Anya has worked on several ERDF funded projects with the Chamber Low Carbon as an approved consultant, helping businesses across Lancashire reduce their carbon footprint and become more sustainable through Energy and Environmental reports, Carbon Baseline Assessments and access to grant funding. Anya is particularly interested in The Internet of Energy (IoE) – creating smart solutions for businesses with the use of technology to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Anya has also worked with developers including Lightsource bp on a number of large and utility scale Solar PV and BESS developments, including NSIPs. Anya has been instrumental in accelerating the transition to net zero and currently has a 3GW+ pipeline with over 2GW in development. Projects include Maen Hir, a 360MW PV and 360MW BESS project on the Isle of Anglesey which Anya has been working on since 2018 when she brought the project proposal to Lightsource bp following research into renewable energy designations across Wales, the local and wider infrastructure and available capacity. Anya has assisted with early stage development including stakeholder engagement and the coordination of surveys, Plas Power (recently awarded planning) and Pentir BESS, the first stand alone energy storage project in Lightsource bp’s UK energy pipeline to be awarded planning approval. Anya continues to work on utility scale PV, BESS and other large/nationally significant infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe.

Our Process

Our Simple 3 Step Process

Initial Consultation

We offer a free no obligation initial remote consultation to establish your requirements and discuss your project in more detail so that we are able to help you to comply with current legislation/regulations and meet your objectives in the best possible way.

Technical Survey

Using any relevant data you have provided relating to Energy, Water, Waste and Transport combined with a full audit (we are able to work remotely if a site visit is not possible) of your building including HVAC, lighting, glazing and insulation.

We will compile a report identifying your current position and ways in which improvements can be made to become more sustainable and reduce costs.

Project Recommendations/Delivery

We will arrange to meet with you (either on site or virtual) to discuss the findings of the survey, report and recommendations in more detail.

We are also able to help with the design and implementation of any recommended measures including a full project management service so that you can continue to focus on the day to day running of your business.
